Millions of demonstrators took to the streets across hundreds of cities and towns in the United States on Sunday for the ‘No Kings’ protest. The nationwide movement against President Donald Trump’s administration was dubbed ‘Anti-American’ rallies by the Republican lawmakers. CNN reported that over 2500 events were organized in all 50 states on Saturday.
President Trump’s Response To Mass Demonstrations
Amid this, Donald Trump’s quirky five-word response to the mass demonstrations has gone viral. Speaking to Fox Business on Friday, Donald Trump insisted that he is not a King. His remarks come ahead of the protest planned for Saturday. “They’re referring to me as a king. I’m not a king,” he said. Meanwhile, the US President insisted the ongoing government shutdown grants him the authority to cut federal programs unilaterally.
About The Anti-Trump ‘No Kings’ Protest
The ‘No Kings’ protests against US President Donald Trump were organized as a national day of action to reject authoritarianism and defend democratic principles. While the crowd expressed frustration over a range of Trump-era policies, several recurring themes emerged. According to CNN, concerns are over the outrage over aggressive immigration enforcement, erosion of democratic norms, ICE raids, cuts to essential government programs, and deployment of federal troops in US cities.
Atlanta, Los Angeles, Chicago, and other major cities in the United States saw a massive turnout. Democratic leaders have expressed support for the protests. In a social media post, California Governor Gavin Newsom encouraged demonstrators to remain calm and peaceful.
“As Californians take to the streets today to stand up against the President’s authoritarian playbook, I urge everyone to stay safe and demonstrate peacefully. Don’t give in to his provocations. Our strength is in our unity and peace,” Newsom wrote on X.
