The United States on Monday made an attempt to establish a thaw in strained India-US ties after the Trump administration imposed 50% tariffs. The US Embassy in India posted a message, terming India-US ties a defining relationship of the 21st century.
The tweet came just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in China’s Tianjin.

This month, we’re spotlighting the people, progress, and possibilities driving us forward. From innovation and entrepreneurship to defense and bilateral ties, it’s the enduring friendship between our two peoples that fuels this journey. The post highlighted a statement by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, stating, “The enduring friendship between our two peoples is the bedrock of our cooperation and propels us forward as we realize the tremendous potential of our economic relationship.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described his bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin as ‘excellent’.
PM Modi during the meeting at the SCO sidelines said that they discussed ways to deepen relations across all bilateral sectors and the situation in Ukraine.
In a post on X, he said, “Had an excellent meeting with President Putin on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Tianjin. Discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation in all sectors, including trade, fertilisers, space, security and culture. We exchanged views on regional and global developments, including the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. Our Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership remains a vital pillar of regional and global stability.”
Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal said that the bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Putin bolstered the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.
