Amazon To Start Five-Day Work Week: Amazon is asking its corporate staff to be in the office five days a week starting in January 2025. CEO Andy Jassy wrote in a memo that he expects the employees to follow the company’s new policy.
As reported by The Washington Post, before the change, Amazon employees were only required to attend office for three days.

Jassy’s note to the staff read “If we look back into the past 5 years, it has been observed that the advantages of being together in the office are significant and it is easier for our teammates to learn, implement, practice and strengthen our culture. Collaborating, brainstorming, and inventing become easier. Additionally, teams tend to be connected.
After Amazon made this announcement many tech giants also prohibited remote work for their employees. Amazon is the first major tech company to make a full work week in the office mandatory for its employees. Other tech companies have revised their stances in recent years made it more strict for the employees and rolled back flexible work culture, after which many workers resisted with protests, threats, and even their resignations.
Tech companies started working from home during the pandemic but now they have started calling people to the office for at least on a part-time basis. Even Zoom, which became a symbol of remote work during the pandemic also started calling its employees to the office on a part-time basis.
Amazon Will Continue The Old Policy In Case of Emergency
Amazon’s CEO, Andy Jassy announced that the company’s updated policy will follow the pre-pandemic norms. But in some cases such as if the child is sick, in emergencies, and if there is a need for isolation WFH will still be allowed. But, now no employee will be able to be on work from home for two days without any valid reason and approval from their supervisor.
