During a flight from Oslo to Málaga, an unfortunate incident happened as a passenger found a live mouse in his meal on a Scandinavian Airlines from Oslo to Málaga. It turned into an emergency landing in Copenhagen as the decision was made over safety concerns that rodents may cause damage to the electrical systems of the aircraft.
Reactions by Passengers
Passengers Jarle Borrestad posted his unexpected incident on Facebook, saying, “If you believe it but a lady beside me opened her food and a mouse jumped out.” The passengers seemed to handle it well and “were not stressed at all,” but he joked that he wore socks over trousers to keep the mouse from climbing up his legs.

Airline’s Justification for Diversion
The official for Scandinavian Airlines, Oystein Schmidt, maintained that the pilot had diverted the flight in line with safety procedures after a mouse on board was deemed hazardous. He further explained that the diversion also resulted in a short delay as passengers were then transferred to another flight en route to Málaga.
Assurance of Safety Protocols
Scandinavian Airlines realized how rare such occurrences are and cited existing procedures for similar mishaps. The airline said, “We have guidelines for such incidents, and we will review them with our suppliers to ensure this won’t happen again.”.
