A Kathmandu-Delhi bound flight of Air India disrupted the take-off facility for hours at Kathmandu International Airport after developing a technical snag on Tuesday just a moment before take-off.
Tribhuvan International Airport spokesman Subas Jha informed that there was a problem with the landing gear of the aircraft. Air India Flight-216 was all set to depart from Kathmandu airport at 4:10 am.
Due to the wheel lock, the aircraft got stuck on the runway itself. There were 179 passengers on board, who were later de-boarded. The aircraft was removed from the runway with the help of a tractor. Two international and five domestic flights were grounded after the plane got stuck in the taxiway.
The takeoff facility of the airport was stopped for an hour. Regular operations resumed after the aircraft was displaced from the taxiway to the parking lot.
