Philippines Earthquake- A day after two massive earthquakes killed at least seven people in the southern Philippines, another 6.0-magnitude quake struck off the country’s southern coast late on Saturday, the United States Geological Survey reported. The latest tremor adds to the series of seismic events affecting the region, raising concerns about further impacts in both the Philippines and nearby Indonesia. The earthquake struck Philippines and Indonesia at 8:02 pm, approximately 222 kilometers from the Philippines.
Twin earthquakes rock Philippines
Notably, on Friday, a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the southern coast of the Philippines, killing at least six people. Later the same day, a strong aftershock measuring 6.9 hit the region, claiming at least one more life and prompting tsunami warnings across the area.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) had confirmed that the tremors were caused by the movement along the Philippine Trench, a deep underwater fault to the east of the country. A tsunami warning was then issued by the agency in the region. Later in the day, when a second earthquake struck, measuring magnitude 6.9, tsunami warnings were extended beyond Philippines, with parts of Indonesia and Palau also on alert. The United States National Tsunami Warning Centre had predicted waves between 0.3 and 1 meter (1-3.3 feet) for these areas, cautioning the residents.
