At least four people were killed and 26 injured in a collision between a passenger train and a freight train in Pardubice, Czech Republic, on Wednesday evening, the regional governor said. After the incident, rescue teams arrived and began to evacuate the passengers.
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala expressed his condolences after the incident in a post on microblogging site X, saying: ‘The collision of two trains in Pardubice is a serious accident. We are all thinking of the victims and the injured. My sincere condolences to all. those who lost their life.

According to the Reuters news agency, the accident happened in Pardubice, part of the country’s main railway corridor east of Prague.
Sharing details about the passenger train, the governor of the Pardubice region, Martin Netolicky said that it is operated by the railway company RegioJet.

‘The collision between a RegioJet train and a freight train resulted in several lives and dozens of injuries,’ he said on Facebook.
Footage on the news site after the crash showed at least one carriage off the track, while police showed a line of emergency vehicles and a helicopter in an X-handle.
A spokesman for firefighters from the railway department told Czech TV that several passengers were also seriously injured.
