In another incident of employee’s death, a 30-year-old woman has been found dead after her request of sick leave got denied by the manager. The incident is reported from Thailand.
News Daily Bangkok Post reported that the woman, identified as May was an employee of electronics plant in Samut Prakan of Thailand. She had taken sick leave from September 5 to 9 and had provided the medical certificate for the same. She was diagnosed with inflammation of large intestine. She was hospitalized for four days. After her discharge, May had again taken sick leave for two days as she wasn’t feeling well.
On 12 September, she again requested her manager for sick leave of one more day citing her deteriorating health condition. But her manager told that she has to come to work and submit another medical certificate as she had already taken so many sick leaves.
Concerned about losing her job, she went to work on 13 September and collapsed after working for almost 20 minutes.
She was immediately taken to hospital and an emergency surgery was performed on her. It’s reported that she died the following day due to Necrotizing enterocolitis. Necrotizing enterocolitis is a life-threatening intestinal disease.
How Did The Company React?
May’s company Delta Electronics (Thailand) publicly announced her death and expressed condolences on their Facebook page. The company said that they are ‘devastated’ by her demise and would launch an investigation into the matter.
