While the Guardian quoted the US attorney general, Merrick Garland, confirming Jack’s arrest and said, “His arrest was confirmed by the US attorney general, Merrick Garland “in connection with an investigation into alleged unauthorized removal, retention and transmission of classified national defence information.”

Teixeira has been found to be an admin of the online chat group where the documents first emerged. Media reports stated that the documents were leaked in March or perhaps a bit earlier than that but the news came into existence only after the New York Times reported it last week.
The leak has caused a major damage to the US as the documents contained crucial information on Ukraine millitary vulnerabilities. This has also upset its allies Israel, South Korea and Turke as the leaked material also included information on these three countries.
