Toyota's ethanol-powered version of the Innova will earn the distinction of being the globe's inaugural BS-VI (Stage-II) electrified flex-fuel automobile.

Ethanol, an environmentally friendly and domestically sourced transportation fuel, is derived from biomass like corn or sugarcane.

Flex-fuel vehicles, officially termed E-85, comprise 85 percent ethanol fuel and 15 percent gasoline or other hydrocarbons by volume.

Toyota has incorporated a cold-start mechanism into the vehicle, enabling it to commence operations even in frigid conditions as low as minus 15 degrees Celsius.

In comparison to the conventional Innova hybrid MPV, which produces 181 bhp and provides fuel efficiency of 23.24 kmpl, Toyota anticipates that the flex-fuel variant could achieve an impressive enhancement of 30 to 50 percent in efficiency.
