Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, to participate in International Yoga Day 2024 celebrations, marking a historic visit to the region.
The event, was scheduled to start at 6.30 am at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) on the banks of the Dal Lake but was disrupted due to heavy rain in the city. The arrangements were later shifted indoors.
Modi leads a mass yoga session, with thousands of participants joining in to perform asanas, promoting the benefits of yoga for physical and mental well-being.
This year's theme, "Yoga for Self and Society", emphasises yoga's vital role in fostering individual well-being and social harmony.
Modi interacts with local residents, emphasizing the government’s commitment to the development and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir, and encouraging youth participation in yoga.
