1 cup Toor dal, 2-3 dried red chilies, 1 tbsp cumin, 1 tbsp coriander, 1 tbsp sesame seeds, ½ tsp hing, salt to taste.
Start by dry roasting the toor dal, red chilies, cumin, coriander, and sesame seeds in a pan on low heat.
Let the roasted ingredients cool. Then grind them in a blender or spice grinder into a coarse powder.
Add salt and hing for the taste in podi.
