1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 cup milk, 2 tablespoons red food coloring.
Preheat your waffle iron before pouring the batter.
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar.
In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and red food coloring.
Mix the wet and dry ingredients together until gently combined.
Lightly grease the waffle iron, pour in the batter, and cook for 3-5 minutes until golden and crisp.
Serve the waffles, dust with powdered sugar, and top with cream cheese frosting, syrup, berries, whipped cream, or ice cream.
