These 'Filthy Questions' Provoked Mahua Moitra's Walkout From Ethics Panel Probe

TMC MP Mahua Moitra walked out of Parliamentary Ethics Committee probe while appearing for cash-for-query row.

She was also accompanied by some Opposition leaders to stage a walkout whom she later thanked.

Moitra said she was asked irrelevant details about her personal life.

The MP described the episode as "proverbial vastraharan (stripping)": a reference to Mahabharata, where Draupadi was humiliated by the Kauravs in open court.

In a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Mahua Moitra alleged that "unethical, sordid, prejudiced behavior was meted out."

She alleged the chairman to appear with a pre-written script from which he was reading out, which contained the most disgusting, invasive, private details about my personal life.

Meanwhile, Ethics panel chief BJP MP Vinod Kumar Sonkar said the TMC leader did not cooperate during her cross-examination.

The case pertains to allegation by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey that Moitra took cash and gifts to ask questions in Parliament from businessman Darshan Hiranandani.
