Lyrebirds are renowned for their extraordinary ability to mimic sounds, including chainsaws, camera shutters, car alarms, and other bird species.
The male lyrebird’s tail feathers resemble a lyre (a musical instrument), and they are used in elaborate courtship displays to attract females.
They can mimic over 20 different bird species and other sounds, making their calls incredibly complex and diverse.
Lyrebirds are endemic to Australia, found primarily in the rainforests of southeastern parts of the country.
Male lyrebirds build elaborate "bowers" from twigs and decorate them with colorful objects to attract females.
Though their mimicry is impressive, lyrebirds rarely mimic human-made sounds perfectly in the wild, with most recordings featuring natural bird calls.
