– High-quality matcha powder – Hot (but not boiling) water – A matcha whisk (chasen) or frother – A small sifter – A bowl or mug
Use a small sifter to remove lumps and ensure a smooth consistency.
Pour a small amount (about 2 oz) of hot water (not boiling, around 80°C/175°F).
Use a bamboo whisk in a zigzag motion until frothy. No whisk? Use a frother or shake in a jar.
Drink it straight or add more water or milk for a matcha latte. Sweeten if desired.
