1932-1946 The name "Air India" has been adopted just 30 year ago. Earlier, the airline was known as 'Tata Air Line'.

1946-2007 The centaur on the Air India logo was shooting an arrow within circle, which symbolized the wheels of Konark (stone wheels from Konark Sun Temple).

1946-1960 The logo was used along with main logo for quite some time. Having 'Air India' in a similar way but with taller, darker letters.

1960-1970 In the year 1960, they had removed the word international underneath the main portion.

1971-1972 The particular logo used the same emblem as the main logo

1972-1989 Tata Group's airline rearranged the elements in the version of 1972 by putting the native writing, the English writing on the right and the emblem in between.

1990-1991 The logo has both versions of the name, written side-by-side again. On it, the bronze logo was placed inside a ring of the same colour.

1992-2007 The 1992 logo again went back to the design adopted in 1972. There was slight change in the colours only.

2007-Today The logo depicted the merger of Air India with short-haul flag carrier Indian Airlines in the year 2007.

2014-Today After the airline became part of the Star Alliance during the summer end of 2014, its logo was again a bit updated. The term "A Star Alliance Member" appeared under the main Air India logo.
