All-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cold butter, milk, vanilla extract, and strawberries.
Slice 2 cups of fresh strawberries and mix with 1/4 cup sugar. Let them sit to release their juices.
Time to make the base! Mix dry ingredients and add butter. Use your hands to crumble until it looks like sand.
Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes until golden.
For the perfect topping, whip 1 cup heavy cream with 2 tbsp sugar and 1 tsp vanilla until soft peaks form.
Cut the shortcakes in half. Layer with whipped cream and strawberries. Top with more whipped cream and a strawberry garnish.
