Jowar Roti, a healthy and gluten-free Indian flatbread, is packed with fiber and nutrients. Here’s how you can make soft and delicious jowar rotis at home!
– 1 cup jowar (sorghum) flour – ½ cup hot water (adjust as needed) – A pinch of salt (optional) – Ghee or butter (for serving)
– In a mixing bowl, add jowar flour and a pinch of salt. – Slowly pour in hot water and mix using a spoon. – Once it cools slightly, knead the dough with your hands until smooth and pliable.
– Take a small portion of dough and roll it into a ball. – Place it between two sheets of parchment paper or use a rolling pin with gentle pressure to flatten it into a round shape. – If the dough cracks, wet your hands slightly to smoothen the edges.
– Heat a tawa (griddle) on medium heat. – Place the rolled roti on the hot tawa and cook for 30-40 seconds. – Flip and cook on the other side until you see brown spots. – Flip again and gently press with a cloth or spatula to help it puff up.
Brush with ghee or butter and serve hot with dal, sabzi, or curd for a wholesome meal.
