Simple Home Tests For Ghee Purity

Water Test

Pure ghee will solidify and settle at the bottom, while impure ghee may melt or remain suspended.

Smell Test

Pure ghee has a rich, nutty aroma. If it smells off or rancid, it might not be pure.

Taste Test

Take a small amount and taste it. Pure ghee should have a smooth, creamy flavor without any off-tastes.

Chill Test

Refrigerate the ghee for a few hours. Pure ghee will solidify evenly, while mixed ghee may have a grainy texture or separate.

Color Test

Pure ghee is usually golden yellow. If it looks too white or has an unnatural color, it might be adulterated.

Paper Test

Place a small amount of ghee on a blotting paper. If it leaves an oily stain, it may contain impurities.
