Scientists have discovered a volcano on the surface of Mars. Its height is more than Mount Everest.
The volcano has currently been named Noctis Volcano. Its width is 450 kilometers.
Rising to a staggering height of 9,022 meters, Noctis Volcano dwarfs Earth's tallest peak, Mount Everest, which stands at 8,849 meters.
Remarkably, despite decades of scrutiny, the discovery of Noctis Volcano eluded scientists' detection until now.
Partially obliterated, the volcano's visibility was compromised, leading to its unnoticed presence for years.
Intriguingly, researchers have also identified remnants of a buried glacier ice sheet near the volcano's base.
