Samsung Unveils World's First Transparent MicroLED Screen
During Samsung's annual First Look event at CES 2024, the company unveiled the world's first transparent MicroLED display.
Although there is no information yet on the cost or when this technology will be available in retail devices, Samsung presented its transparent MicroLED display alongside transparent OLED and transparent LCD models for comparison.
The MicroLED panel stood out with its significantly higher brightness, a completely frameless design, and a more transparent glass panel, making it easier to see objects positioned behind it.
The impact of Samsung's transparent MicroLED displays is challenging to articulate, creating an almost holographic effect as content appears to float in mid-air.
The demo unit, standing freely and measuring only about a centimeter thick, enhances the illusion of a floating screen.
The high pixel density of micro LEDs contributes to incredibly sharp images.
While Samsung has currently shared only a single vertical video featuring EDM content, it provides a glimpse of the visually immersive experience observed during the demonstration.
As per a Samsung spokesperson, transparent MicroLED displays exhibit higher brightness compared to transparent OLED panels.
