– 1/2 cup toor dal (pigeon peas) – 1/2 cup rice – 1/4 cup green beans, chopped – 1 tomato chopped , small onion finely chopped, carrot, potato – 1 tbsp tamarind paste, sambar powder & mustard seeds – 2 dried red chilies – Curry leaves, coriander leaves – Salt to taste – 1 tbsp oil or ghee
In a pressure cooker cook toor dal and rice together with 3 cups of water until soft. Set aside.
Heat oil, add mustard seeds, dried red chilies, and curry leaves. Then sauté onions, carrots, potatoes, beans, and tomatoes.
Stir in sambar powder and tamarind paste. Mix well and cook the vegetables until soft and fragrant.
Mix cooked dal and rice with the vegetable mixture. Add water if needed, and simmer until everything is well blended.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot with papad, pickle, or raita for the perfect South Indian meal!
