28 parties unified to become the INDIA bloc but still seem divided on seat sharing. The gap is widening as the Lok Sabha elections near.
The differences have grown between Samajwadi Party and Congress over seat sharing in UP, the most prominent state for the Lok Sabha.
While Akhilesh Yadav wants to keep most of the seats for SP, Congress is willing to contest on a few major constituencies along with 12-15 seats.
One of such seats is Lucknow, the capital of UP that elected Rajnath Singh as their MP.
While Congress wishes to field Bollywood actor Raj Babbar, SP wants to rope in former minister Ravidas Mehrotra for the Lucknow seat.
Notably, Congress candidate Acharya Pramod Krishnan was at third place in the 2019 elections from Lucknow. Poonam Sinha from SP secured the second position.
In 2019, Raj Babbar was badly defeated. He contested from Fatehpur and could afford the third position after BJP and BSP.
