In a saucepan, heat 2 cups of milk on medium heat until warm.
Whisk in 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder and 2 tbsp sugar until well combined.
Stir in 1/4 cup chopped dark chocolate or chocolate chips, melting it completely.
Let the mixture simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
Add a pinch of salt and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract for extra flavor.
Pour into mugs, top with whipped cream or marshmallows, and enjoy your rich, creamy hot chocolate!
