Not One Or Two, Devdas Has 22 Remakes Across India-Pakistan

Nowadays, the Indian film business places a high value on both original content and remakes. Despite being remakes, these films have received positive feedback from audiences, as seen by their box office collections. But now we're going to tell you about a film that has had 22 remakes in India and Pakistan.

'Devdas' is the title of this film. Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay wrote the Bengali romance book "Devdas." In 1917, he released this novel.

The first film based on this novel was released in 1928 as a silent picture. Naresh Mitra directed this film, in which Phani Barma portrayed Devdas, Tarakabala portrayed Parvati, and Niharbala portrayed Chandramukhi.

In 1935 and 1937 it was made in Bengali and Assamese language. This film proved to be a hit everytime it was made. 

In such a situation, director Vedantam Raghavayya produced 'Devdas' in Telugu and Tamil in 1953. Devdas was remade in Hindi two years later in 1955, with Dilip Kumar, Suchitra Sen, and Vyjayanti Mala in the key parts.

This Shahrukh Khan film set and broke numerous box office records. The film's melodies are still popular today, and the strong acting of the performers in the film continues to win people's hearts. Following the success of this film, Devdas was recreated in Pakistan in 2010. This film was also made twice in Bangladesh, in addition to Pakistan.

Anurag Kashyap directed a modern version of Devdas based on current events in 2009. 'Dev D' is the moniker he gave to this flick. All of the remakes of this film were huge successes. Simultaneously, after films, web series began to appear in India, with 'Dev DD' being produced in 2017.
