Narwhals are famous for their unicorn-like tusk, a tooth that grows outward; Belugas, on the other hand, don’t have one.
Belugas are known as the “canaries of the sea” because of their wide range of vocal sounds, while narwhals are much quieter.
Narwhals prefer to live in deeper, icy waters, while Belugas often stay near shallow bays and coastlines.
Belugas can move their necks, giving them expressive head turns, while Narwhals have fused neck vertebrae and less flexibility.
Belugas and Narwhals can interbreed, and rare hybrids called 'Narlugas' have been discovered.
Narwhals travel in smaller, tighter groups, while Belugas are more social, often found in large pods.
