Maruti's First EV To Be Manufactured In Gujarat, See Details

India's largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), has once again announced a significant investment, this time in Gujarat.

During the ongoing 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) in Gandhinagar, Maruti Suzuki India declared its plan to invest ₹35,000 crores to establish its second plant in Gujarat.

The company aims to increase its annual production capacity to over 4 million units by the fiscal year 2030-31.

Toshihiro Suzuki, Chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), made two major investment announcements during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS).

He stated, "During the program, he said that the plant's production capacity would be 1 million units per year. We will invest ₹35,000 crores to build a second car plant in Gujarat, which will produce 1 million units annually."

The operation of the new plant is expected to commence in the financial year 2028-29.

While the company has not disclosed the location or the models that will be produced at the new plant, it has mentioned that this information will be shared in due course.

With the initiation of this new plant, the annual production capacity in Gujarat is set to reach 2 million (20 lakh) units.
