Make Tamil Nadu’s Authentic Kara Chutney

Ingredients

You need a pearl onions, lentil, garlic, red chilies, tamarind, tomatoes, mustard seeds, curry leaves and hing, oil.

Making Kara Chutney

Heat sesame oil in a pan, then add urad dal, chana dal. sauté both the lentils.

Add Onion And Chilies

Then add chopped onions, garlic, 4 to 5 dried red chilies. Sauté for half a minute.

Add Tomatoes

Now, add ½ cup chopped tomatoes. Mix well. Season with salt and tamarind, mix it again.

Grind

Add it in a chutney grinder, Add ¼ cup water. Grind the ingredients to a smooth paste.

Tempering Kara Chutney

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, hing and curry leaves.

Add Tadka In Chutney

Pour the tempering in the Kara Chutney. Mix well.

Serve

Serve Kara Chutney with idli, set dosa or uttapam.
