Start your day with a delicious Kerala-style Puttu! A healthy, steamed rice cake that's soft, flavorful, and perfect with coconut and curry.
1 cup Puttu flour, 1/4 cup grated coconut, 1/2 cup warm water, a pinch of salt, coconut oil (optional), 1-2 bananas (optional, for serving).
Mix the Puttu flour with a pinch of salt. Gradually add warm water, mixing until you get a crumbly texture.
Layer a spoonful of grated coconut and the flour mixture in a Puttu maker (or a steamer).
Steam for 10-15 minutes until the Puttu is cooked and soft.
Carefully remove the Puttu from the maker. Serve with banana, curry, or a cup of hot tea.
