SHASHWAT NISHANT

Juventus' star midfielder, Paul Pogba, has received a significant four-year football ban after failing a drug test in August 2023.

This extended suspension could potentially curtail the career of the French World Cup winner at an earlier stage.

Career At Risk

While Juventus refrained from commenting, Reuters news agency reported that the club had been informed of the four-year ban.

Juventus Reacts

Pogba's absence from the majority of his team's matches due to injuries was compounded by the setback of the failed drug test.

Lenghty Spell Out

Following a random test after Juventus's first Serie A game of the 2023 season against Udinese, Pogba tested positive for testosterone.

Dope Test

As a result, Italy's National Anti-Doping Tribunal (NADO Italia) provisionally suspended Pogba in September.

Suspension

Upon appeal from the Anti-Doping Prosecutor’s Office, the NADO granted the request for a four-year ban.

4-Year Ban

However, there remains the possibility of Pogba's four-year ban being reduced, pending an appeal in the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Hope for Pogba?
