Helicopter
During ongoing election rallies, political leaders utilize helicopters to reach several cities in a single day. Here, we discuss their mileage.
For a helicopter to be capable of flying in the air, it requires a large engine that powers the blades. This significantly affects its mileage.
The size, speed, and the amount of weight a helicopter can carry directly impacts its mileage.
A normal helicopter, typically seen, with 6 to 8 seats, consumes approximately 50 to 60 liters of fuel for an hour of flight.
A regular helicopter requires 1 gallon of fuel to fly 1 mile, meaning a helicopter can fly approximately 2 to 3 kilometers on 1 liter of fuel.
To fly a helicopter, aviation turbine fuel (ATF) is needed instead of regular petrol, which is relatively expensive compared to standard fuel.
In major cities in India, the cost of one kiloliter of aviation turbine fuel, ATF, can be up to approximately 1 lakh rupees. This is the fuel used in helicopters.
