The Mughals ruled India for many years, defeating numerous kings and expanding their empire.
Yet, there was a community, the Ahoms, who defeated the Mughals not just once or twice, but 17 times in battle.
The Ahom Empire included Assam's Brahmaputra Valley, Rangpur, Bengal's Cooch-Behar, and Bhutan.
Despite being defeated by the Mughals at times, the brave Ahoms continuously rebelled and reclaimed their land.
In their last encounter, known as the 'Naval War,' the Ahom warriors gave the Mughals a tough fight.
Led by Lachit Borphukan, Ahom soldiers attacked with just 7 boats, scattering the Mughal forces and their numerous vessels.
The Mughals faced a crushing defeat. After this, they abandoned any attempts to control the eastern region. The Ahoms ruled for 600 years.
