Kia presented the production-spec EV5 SUV a few months ago in China, and it has now been officially introduced as a global product during Kia's EV Day.
The EV5 is set to be manufactured in China and Korea to cater to global markets, reflecting Kia's commitment to expanding its electric vehicle offerings.
The Kia EV5 offers three distinct variations to suit diverse driving needs. These include the standard model, long-range, and long-range AWD versions.
The standard EV5 comes equipped with a 64kWh battery pack and a 160kW electric motor, providing an impressive estimated driving range of 530km per charge (CLTC).
For those seeking extended range, the long-range EV5 variant features an 88kWh battery, along with the same 160kW electric motor. This configuration is expected to offer a remarkable range of approximately 720km per charge.
The highest-spec EV5 model, the long-range AWD version, boasts an 88kWh battery pack and a combined power output of 230kW. This includes a 160kW motor for the front wheels and a 70kW motor for the rear wheels, with an estimated range of around 650km.
Kia plans to provide different battery pack and range options depending on the market. This strategy allows for tailored solutions based on regional preferences and needs.
Kia is set to introduce a performance-oriented GT variant of the EV5 at a later date, catering to enthusiasts seeking enhanced performance and driving dynamics.
