Firstly, peel, rinse and chop the elephant foot yam.
Sprinkle some spices, and pour ½ cup water.
Then you can add ¾ cup plantain with yam. Add water just about covering them.
Take fresh grated coconut in a grinder. Add 2 to 3 chopped green chilies, cumin seeds and Grind.
Now, add the prepared coconut paste, beaten curd and mix it. Gravy looks very thick, then you can add ¼ cup water.
In a tadka pan, heat 1 tbspcoconut oil, add mustard seed, red chili, methi seed, Mix and turn off the heat.
Pour the tempering in the Kalan curry. Cover with a lid and let the flavors infuse for 4 to 5 minutes. Serve and enjoy.
