Karnataka's Classic Chow Chow Bath

Roast Rava

Heat a pan first. Add 1 cup rava or cream of wheat. Begin to roast the rava.

Fry Cashew

Heat ghee in a pan. Then add cashew and fry till the cashews turn golden.

Make Khara Bath

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal. Sauté the dals and mustard seeds, till the dals turn golden. 

Next, add chopped onions, tomatoes, capsicum, carrots, peas and mix well. Saute for a minute.

Add Veggies

Then add curry leaves, salt as per taste and some spices, vangi bhaat masala. Mix very well.

Add Spices

Add Water And Rava

Now, add 1.5 cups water. When the water comes to a boil, reduce heat to low & add the roasted rava & mix it.

Add Coriander Leaves

Now Open the lid, add 2 tablespoons ghee, chopped coriander leaves, frid cashew. Mix again.

Make Kesari Bath

In a pan. add water, sugar, saffron, raisins, bring this sugar solution to a boil. Then add roasted rava, ghee cardamom, mix & cover the pan and cook for a minutes.

Serve

Once the rava is cooked well, add the fried cashews and mix well. Serve both Khara Bath and Kesari Bath together hot or warm.
