Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Break the kunafa dough into small pieces and place it in a large bowl.
Generously apply butter to the bottom and sides of a 6-inch pie dish. Sprinkle half of the kunafa dough evenly in the dish, pressing it firmly.
In a bowl, whisk the cream cheese until smooth.
Place the kunafa in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.
Drizzle warm sugar syrup over the top, then garnish with crushed pistachios and dried rose petals.
