Potatoes, flour, egg, salt, pepper(optional).
Start by boiling your potatoes with their skins on for about 15-20 minutes until soft.
Once the potatoes are cooked and cool enough to handle, mash them until smooth.
On a floured surface, combine mashed potatoes, flour, egg, salt, and pepper. Knead into a dough.
Roll the dough into logs and cut into small pieces. Use a fork to create the classic gnocchi grooves.
Drop the gnocchi into boiling water. They’re ready when they float to the top.
Sauté the gnocchi in butter for a crispy, golden finish. Add a pinch of herbs for extra flavor.
Serve your homemade gnocchi with your favorite sauce or enjoy them as is.
