Select fresh, ripe fruits like berries, peaches, or mangoes for the best flavor.
Wash, peel, and chop the fruits; measure sugar and prepare optional lemon juice.
Combine fruits, sugar, and lemon juice in a pan; heat until the fruits release juices.
Mash fruits with a fork or masher; simmer the mixture until it thickens slightly.
Perform the plate test—drop some jam on a cold plate; it should wrinkle when pushed.
Let the jam cool slightly, pour it into sterilized jars, and seal tightly.
Store in the refrigerator and use your fresh jam on toast, desserts, or pancakes!
