To make this 6-8 apples (tart like Granny Smith), 1 sliced orange, 3-4 cinnamon sticks, 5-6 cloves, 1/4 cup brown sugar, vanilla extract.
Cut the apples into quarters and Place them in a large pot.
Add the sliced orange, cinnamon sticks, and cloves to the pot with apples.
Let it simmer uncovered for about 1-1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
Mash softened apples, then strain the cider through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth.
Pour cider into mugs and garnish with cinnamon sticks, orange slices, or ground cinnamon.
