– 1 cup basmati rice – 2 cups water – 1 tbsp ghee or oil – 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera) – Salt to taste – Fresh coriander for garnish (optional)
Rinse the basmati rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it for 15-20 minutes.
Heat ghee or oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, and sauté until they crackle and release their aroma.
Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pan. Pour in water, add salt, and bring to a boil. Cover and cook on low heat for 15 minutes.
Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork. Garnish with fresh coriander, and it's ready to serve!
Jeera rice pairs beautifully with curries, dals, or any savory dish. Enjoy the aroma and flavor in every bite!
