Toor Dal, Drumsticks, Onion, Tomato, Green Chilies, Sambar Powder, Turmeric, Tamarind, Salt, Coriander, Oil, Mustard seeds, Curry leaves, Red chilies.
First, rinse 1 cup of Toor Dal and cook it in a pressure cooker with 2 cups of water for 3-4 whistles until soft.
While the dal cooks, chop 2 drumsticks into 2-3 inch pieces.
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add chopped onions, tomatoes, and green chilies. Sauté until soft.
Mix in 1 tbsp tamarind paste and the cooked Toor Dal. Add water to adjust the consistency. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
For the tempering, heat oil in a small pan. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and dried red chilies. Let them splutter.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or idli. Enjoy your South Indian delight.
