Along with the Orissa Bill, 2010, the constitution (113th amendment) bill was approved to change the state's name from Orissa to Odisha, as well as the language from Oriyo to Odia.
After independence, Madhya Bharat was created by merging 25 princely states. In 1956, the state name was changed to Madhya Pradesh.
In 2006, Uttaranchal was renamed to Uttarakhand after the bill was approved and signed by late president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
After independence, the princely states of Rampur, Banaras and Garwal were merged into the United Provinces, later in 1950 it was renamed to Uttar Pradesh.
After independence, the state was renamed Tamil Nadu by Annadurai's Government in 1969.
