– 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour – 1/2 tsp baking soda – 1/4 tsp salt – 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened) – 3/4 cup brown sugar – 1/4 cup granulated sugar – 1 large egg – 1 tsp vanilla extract – 1/2 cup caramel bits or chopped caramel candy – Optional: 1/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside for later.
Cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
Slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until combined. Then, fold in the caramel bits or sauce for that gooey caramel goodness.
Refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes. This helps the cookies hold their shape while baking.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop the dough onto a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
Once out of the oven, immediately sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top of each cookie to enhance that sweet-salty flavor.
Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack. Then, enjoy with a cup of coffee or milk for the ultimate indulgence!
