Namma Metro, Bengaluru's rapid transit system, is set to expand further with two new lines expected to open by April 2024
The Yellow Line, which stretches from R V Road to Bommasandra covering 19 km, will be extended, connecting the city's major IT corridor, Electronic City
Simultaneously, the Green Line will be extended on Tumakuru Road, running from Nagasandra to Madavara, covering 3 km

The announcement was made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during a virtual inauguration of two other Metro stretches
Notably, this marks the first time in the history of Namma Metro that new stretches are unveiled after the start of commercial operations
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also urged the Central Government to grant immediate approval for Phase III of the Namma Metro project. The DPR is also in preparation for Phase-3A, which will run from Sarjapur to Hebbal and span 37 km
With the addition of these new lines, Namma Metro is expected to see a significant increase in ridership, with a projected 20 lakh passengers daily by 2026. Currently, the operational network spans 74 km, serving over 7 lakh passengers each day
