Avarakkai Poriyal: A Tamil Nadu Classic With Bold Flavors

You need a Avarakkai (Broad Beans), Mustard seeds, urad dal, and dried red chilies for seasoning, Curry leaves for that distinct fragrance, Grated coconut for richness

Ingredients

Chop the beans. You can collect some of all the opened beans together and then chop them

Chop

Heat coconut oil in a pan, then add mustard seeds, urad da, green chili, red dry chili, curry leaves, Hing and mix well.

Tadka

Now add the chopped avarakkai, salt as per taste and mix well.

Add Avarakkai 

Add ½ cup water, mix well and Cover the pan with a lid and on a low heat.

Making Avarakkai Poriyal

Then add 3 tablespoons coconut. Mix very well and saute for a minute on low heat.

Add Coconut

Serve avarakkai poriyal hot or warm as a side dish with chapatis.
