Soak poppy seeds in hot water for 2 hours, ensuring they’re fully covered.

Blend the soaked poppy seeds with 4 tbsp of the soaking liquid to form a paste.

In a saucepan, heat oil over medium flame and add nigella seeds and green chillies, fry for 7-8 seconds.

Add peeled potatoes, mix well, and fry for 5 minutes. Stir in turmeric powder and cover.

Add the poppy seed paste, and water, and season to taste, bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes.

Add a pinch of sugar and extra chillies if desired, serve with puris or dal and rice.
