It serves 17 million customers annually in 92 sites with around 52 million goods.
It is the national book storehouse in Russia, and interestingly, its early collection includes books from stolen public libraries.
It gives guided tours of its branches and contains more than 40 million things. Anyone over 16 years of age can get the membership.
Established by Empress Catherine the Great in 1795, the National Library of Russia is the oldest public library in the country and is situated in St. Petersburg.
