Viral Video: As Delhi continues to choke in ‘toxic’ air, engulfed in a thick blanket of haze, a video shared by a resident on Instagram shows the seriousness of the dire situation. Breathing clean air in the capital has become a dream for many as the Air Quality Index has hit alarmingly high levels, plunging to the ‘severe’ category. From masks to air purifiers, residents are resorting to different ways to protect themselves from the impact of the air pollution. In the viral clip, shared by Abhishek Bajpai, the ‘before and after’ condition of an air purifier has stunned social media users.
In the video, the man documents the entire journey, starting from ordering a new air purifier through the Blinkit app and later showing how the filter is laden with dust. But here’s the catch! The filter turned completely black only after two weeks of continued use. The viral post was captioned as, “Delhi is killing your lungs,” sparking a flood of reactions on the city’s worsening air crisis. The video has triggered concerns about what the toxic air is doing to people’s lungs.

Netizens React
A user wrote, “Imagine those poor people who can’t afford this. These are literally going inside their lungs.” Another user suggested, “Don’t do that for cleaning. It is getting airborne again and will get into your lungs. Use a vacuum cleaner or submerge it in water.” A third user said, “Reels like this matter.”
‘Even Masks Are Not Enough’: Supreme Court
The Supreme Court on Thursday (November 13, 2025) described the situation in Delhi as “very serious.” Expressing concern regarding the toxic pollution levels in the capital, the top court, led by a Bench of Justices PS Narasimha and Atul Chandrukar, asked the senior lawyers to appear virtually via video conferencing. The court observed, “Situation is very very serious! Why are you all appearing here? We have the virtual hearing facility. Please avail it. This pollution will cause permanent damage.”
On Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal mentioning that lawyers are wearing masks, the court emphasized, “Even masks are not enough.” It will not suffice. We will discuss with the Chief Justice as well.” The scathing remarks came as Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) remained in the ‘severe’ category, breaching the 400-mark, for the third consecutive day on Thursday.
