A shocking incident has come to light from Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, where a check issued by a government school principal was rejected by a bank due to spelling errors. The incident is now rapidly going viral on social media, leaving people wondering: if a senior secondary school principal can write “Thursday” instead of “Thousand” and “Sixty” instead of “Sixteen,” what justifies today’s rising fees and the standard of education?
This incident occurred at the Government Senior Secondary School in Ronhat, Sirmaur district, where a check for ₹7,616 was given to a mid-day meal worker. Although the amount was correct in figures, the words read:
“Seven Thursday six Harendra sixty rupees only.”
The check was issued on September 25th.
₹7,616 ..…“ सेवन थर्सडे सिक्स हरेन्द्र सिक्सटी रूपीस ओनली ”

The spectacle of words went viral more than the spelling. An ex-user, @I_Love_Himachal, posted a picture of the check, writing, “₹7,616..…’Saven Thursday Six Harendra Sixty Rupees Only.'”
This post drew attention to the ridiculous spelling, making this simple check the center of discussion on social media.
A check turned into a meme or a picture of education failure?
This post, posted on September 29th, has been viewed more than 2,000 times so far. People made humorous comments and criticized the education system. While some users made it the subject of lighthearted memes, many saw it as a serious flaw in the education system.
One person jokingly wrote, “Maybe the autocorrect on the pen was broken!” While someone else wrote, “The teachers of Himachal have become a burden on the country and society.”
The bank dishonored the check due to an apparent misspelling, forcing the school to issue a new, correct check. But by then, the incident had already gained traction on social media, raising questions about the future of the country when the foundation of education itself is weak.
